Terms and conditions

General

Trip length: The duration of our trip is approximate only and depends on a number of factors including weather and sea conditions.

Weather/sea conditions: We reserve the right to cancel the boat trip without notice. This can be due to a variety of reasons, including but not limited to, changing weather and sea conditions, technical reasons, crew availability or lack of minimum passenger numbers. (minimum number 15). However if it is necessary to cancel a boat trip for any reason an alternative date or a full refund will be offered. We will attempt to advise passengers of any cancellations prior to the day of departure; however it is the passenger’s responsibility to contact us if there is any uncertainty about the weather to ensure the trip is going ahead as scheduled. As sea conditions can change rapidly landings at the Island are not guaranteed, however we make every effort to ensure we are fully aware of any forthcoming changes in the weather prior to sailing. The Skipper’s decision will be final.

Safety: Please act responsibly on the boat and follow our safety procedures. While on the Island passengers must adhere to the safety guidelines issued by the warden. All passengers must follow instructions provided by the Skipper and crew. Passengers must exercise due care and attention to avoid slips or falls if moving around the vessel. Passengers must not behave in a way that may offend or disturb the comfort or safety of other passengers or crew. Failure to comply with any reasonable instructions may result in any offending passengers being taken back to shore. Safe access via gangways are provided for embarkation and disembarkation at both Anstruther and the Island on our trip, but we cannot be held accountable for any actions where due caution and restraint has not been followed.

Clothing/belongings: Sea conditions may result in passengers getting wet and or cold. Suitable clothing should be worn and passengers should be prepared for changing conditions whilst at sea. Waterproof bags for camera equipment are also advisable. Any belongings brought on to the boat are the responsibility of the passenger and we cannot be held accountable for any breakages or lost/stolen items.

Wheelchairs and buggies: Marine safety regulations deem that the vessel is unsuitable for wheelchairs; however we make every effort to accommodate portable equipment and folding buggies.

Mobility: A reasonable level of fitness and agility is required. The trip involves being able to negotiate gangways and steps.

Toilets: There are toilets on the boat and at the visitor centre on the Island.

Dogs: Dogs are not permitted on the boat or the Island.

Smoking: Smoking is not permitted on the boat.

Insurance: Anstruther Pleasure Cruises maintains marine insurance meeting all statutory requirements, however we strongly recommend that passengers hold comprehensive and suitable travel, medical and cancellation insurance.
